Creek Cabin is a beautiful eco-home, set in the stunning Suffolk coastal countryside

Using GreenSteps Scandinavian Slimline timber-aluminium composite windows, doors and sliding doors

Shortlisted for ‘House of the Year’ in the British Homes Awards 2023 as well as ‘Best Green Home’ in the Daily Telegraph Homebuilding and Renovating Awards 2023 Creek Cabin is an innovative Eco-Home set within and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Suffolk Broads. This project required a durable and low-maintenance exterior finish, combined with the natural beauty and elegance of timber on the inside. Designed to Passivhaus standards, the house required exceptional u-values and airtightness to provide the high insulation, draught-free and low heat-loss standards. This meant that the GreenSteps Scandinavian Slimline system was the perfect choice.

Flexibility over the colour combinations on the external faces provides additional design interest, with the opening parts in bright yellow and fixed elements in white or dark grey. GreenSteps worked closely with the architects MAP Architecture to develop a neat installation detail, providing the illusion of the curved roof floating above the clerestory glazing.

Another outstanding feature of this project is the 4 metre tall triple glazed curved window standing on the corner of the building. This feature provides a view across the surrounding countryside from the feature cylindrical elevator within the house.
